How to Pick and Store Fresh Vegetables to Last the Whole Week

Shop Once, Eat Fresh All Week

Nothing beats cooking with fresh vegetables, but nothing is more frustrating than produce that wilts before you can use it. Here is how to pick the best and store them right so you get the most out of every shop at Groci.

Cabbage

Pick a Cabbage that feels heavy for its size with tight, crisp outer leaves. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate — lasts up to 2 weeks. Perfect for coleslaw, stir-fries, and braised dishes.

Carrots

Our Carrots 1kg should be firm and bright orange. Remove green tops when you get home and store in a sealed bag in the fridge. They stay fresh for 2-3 weeks.

Tomatoes

Never refrigerate Tomatoes — it destroys the flavour. Store at room temperature, stem side down. Use within 5-7 days. Perfect for salads, sauces, and relishes.

Spinach

Fresh Spinach should have deep green, perky leaves. Wash, dry, wrap in paper towels, and refrigerate. Keeps for up to a week and is packed with iron and vitamins.

Potatoes and Onions

Store Potatoes in a cool, dark, ventilated place — not the fridge. Keep Onions 10kg in a mesh bag with good airflow. Both last weeks when stored properly.
